Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Infernum ("Infernum", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and protects information when you use our Discord bot, website and dashboard (collectively, the "Service"). By adding the bot to a server or using the website, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data needed to operate the Service.

Data the bot stores

• Guild (server) IDs — to store per-server settings, queues and statistics.
• User IDs — to attribute song requests ("requested by"), enforce per-user cooldowns, manage vote-skips and associate saved playlists.
• Channel IDs — the voice and text channels the bot is actively using, so it can play audio and post "now playing" messages.
• Playlist data — playlist names and the track references (URLs/queries) you choose to save.
• Command & usage data — which commands are run and aggregate playback counts, used for queue management and anonymous statistics.
• Guild settings — values you configure (default volume, autoplay, DJ role, search source).

We do not read or store your message content, voice audio, or direct messages. Infernum uses slash commands only.

Data collected via the website / OAuth

• Discord OAuth data — when you log in we receive your user ID, username, avatar and (with your consent) the list of servers you belong to, solely to display the dashboard and verify which servers you can manage. We request the identify and guilds scopes for the dashboard, and role_connections.write for Linked Roles verification.
• Session cookies — a signed, httpOnly cookie holds your session and Discord access token so you stay logged in. It is not shared with third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide music playback, queues, playlists and per-server settings.
• To operate the web dashboard and authenticate you via Discord.
• To prevent abuse (cooldowns, rate limiting, vote-skip integrity).
• To compute anonymous, aggregate usage statistics.
• To support Discord Linked Roles verification when you opt in.

We never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Data Retention

• Guild settings and saved playlists are retained while the bot remains in your server.
• Active queue data is transient and cleared when playback ends or the bot leaves.
• When the bot is removed from a server, associated server data is deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required to prevent abuse or comply with law.
• Website sessions expire after 7 days; tokens are discarded on logout.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We share data only with the infrastructure required to run the Service: Discord (the platform itself) and our audio backend (Lavalink) for streaming. Track metadata may be resolved through publicly available APIs (e.g. YouTube). We do not sell or rent your information.

5. Your Rights

You may, at any time:

• Request a copy of the data associated with your user ID.
• Request deletion of your saved playlists, settings, or all associated data.
• Remove the bot from your server to stop further collection.
• Revoke the website's OAuth access from your Discord account settings.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to anyone under the minimum age required to use Discord in their country (typically 13). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.

7. Security

Secrets are stored in environment variables, sessions are signed and httpOnly, and access to management endpoints is permission-checked. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in our support server.
